Hello

Hi, I’m Harrison Alonso. I was born in London and moved to San Diego when I was seven, and I’m currently a Computer Science major at the University of Oregon.

My Story

I have been building things on computers for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, I was obsessed with making small games and interactive projects in Scratch, mostly because I loved that feeling of turning an idea into something you could actually experience. As I got older, that curiosity turned into a deeper technical interest. I spent a lot of time learning how systems work by tinkering, troubleshooting, and even running Minecraft servers, which taught me a lot about problem-solving, reliability, and how to build experiences that other people can jump into and enjoy. It also taught me a lot about leadership and community building.

Creatively, I’m usually the main game design lead on my projects. I enjoy designing mechanics and pacing, but I also love the narrative side: writing character-driven scenes, complex dialogue, and branching story paths that give players meaningful choices. I’m drawn to projects where storytelling and systems support each other, and where details in writing, tone, and interaction make the experience feel intentional.

Today, I focus on game development and software fundamentals. I compete in game jams, iterate quickly, and care deeply about polish and player feel. GameMaker is my main engine, and I use it to prototype mechanics quickly, then refine them into something clean and shippable. I like working on gameplay systems, moment-to-moment interaction, and the small details that make a project feel intentional. On team projects, I often take the team lead role, coordinating composers and artists, organizing tasks and deadlines, and integrating assets into a stable build so the project stays playable and moves toward a polished release. I also write project breakdowns because I want my work to be readable, learnable, and easy for a team or recruiter to understand.

On this site, you will find my projects, playable links, and write-ups describing what I built, the decisions I made, and what I learned along the way. If you want to collaborate or think I would be a good fit for a role on your team, feel free to reach out.
